21-28 April National Midwives Week 5 May International Midwives Day Event

Within the scope of 21-28 April National Midwives Week and 5 May International Midwives Day, the symposium "Midwifery, the Profession of the Past and the Future" was held on 08.05.2023 by the Department of Midwifery of our Faculty. The symposium started with the opening speeches of Assoc. Hacer YALNIZ DİLCEN, Head of the Department of Midwifery, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Sevim ÇELİK, Vice Rector of Bartın University and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Important issues regarding the midwifery profession were discussed by expert guests.
Speaking about the history of midwifery and the development process of the midwifery profession, Ege University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Ummahan YÜCEL, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ummahan YÜCEL and President of Anatolian Midwives Association, who shared about ICM-2023 theme and professional organisation. Midwife Nesibe UZEL, Private Aktıp Hospital midwife Ecem Ateş, who works in the delivery room, made presentations about being a midwife. In the second part of the symposium, Clinician Midwife Şule KILIÇ from Bartın State Hospital, Field Midwife Yasemin DENİZ ÖZTEKİN from Bartın Central Community Health Centre, Kütahya Health Sciences University Midwifery Department Student Midwife Şeyma Nur KARAKAŞ answered the questions from the participants.
The symposium ended with a cocktail after the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers.
