World Heart Day is celebrated every year on September 29 worldwide to raise awareness about heart health and to promote conscious and effective action through various events. Between 2024 and 2026, the main theme of World Heart Day has been determined as “Use Heart for Action” During this period, individuals and societies are encouraged to take action for heart health and are supported to take care of their hearts. Achieving behavioral change at both the individual and community levels is among the main objectives.
On the occasion of World Heart Day, our event aimed to encourage all individuals to take good care of their hearts, inform their loved ones about this issue, and take steps to raise awareness. Therefore, within the scope of the 29 September World Heart Day, the Faculty of Health Sciences organized a cardiovascular risk factor screening and education activity under the theme “Use Heart for Action” at Bartın State Hospital on October 3, 2025. During the event, participants were provided education on the importance of protecting and improving heart health, focusing on risk factors such as the harms of smoking, the importance of healthy nutrition, benefits of physical activity for the heart, the significance of weight loss for overweight individuals, and the importance of controlling hypertension and diabetes. Blood pressure and weight measurements were also performed. Nine students took part in the activity. They provided education for cardiovascular patients using desktop educational guides and brochures and assisted with blood pressure and weight measurements. The event attracted considerable attention, and all participants stated that they were satisfied with the activity and would like it to be organized more frequently. Brochures prepared within the framework of World Heart Day were distributed to all participants.
