In collaboration with the Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery, and the Bartın University Center for Women and Family Studies, a panel titled “Shared Responsibility in the Family: The Fathers’ Breastfeeding Journey” was organized within the scope of the Breastfeeding Week (October 1–7) and the “Family Year” activities. The event took place on October 9, 2025, at the Ağdacı Conference Hall with high participation.

Prior to the panel, Research Assistant Dr. Ebru Bulut, a faculty member of the Department of Midwifery, delivered a presentation on “Breastfeeding and the Role of Fathers in the Breastfeeding Process.” In her presentation, Dr. Bulut emphasized that breastfeeding is not only a biological process but also a family experience that strengthens the emotional bond between the mother, father, and baby. She noted that the active involvement of fathers increases mothers’ self-confidence and prolongs the breastfeeding duration.

In the opening remarks of the panel, the faculty members highlighted that breastfeeding is not solely a mother–baby process but also a reflection of family solidarity and shared responsibility awareness. They underlined that fathers’ supportive roles contribute to extending breastfeeding duration, enhancing maternal self-confidence, and strengthening family bonds.
