Bartın University Social Work Department and Social Work Club organized an inspiring webinar titled "Rethinking Goodness in Social Life."
In the event, moderated by Dr. Hakan Karaman, the cultural foundations of goodness and solidarity were discussed. Guest speaker Mustafa Fazıl Karaman drew attention to the risk of goodness losing its "spirit" within institutional structures and emphasized the "Brotherhood Mobilization."
Karaman gave examples from their "Soup Kitchen" application for the homeless in Istanbul; he explained how "invisible acts of kindness," done entirely with individual motivation and without being under the umbrella of any association, strengthen social bonds. He also touched upon the importance of the traditional charity stone culture and the happiness-enhancing effect of goodness on human biology. Professionalism and Local Values
Department Head Prof. Dr. Özge Özgür stated that social work is a professional discipline, but it is vital that it be practiced without losing touch with local values. Hakan Karaman, on the other hand, brought the subject to a historical perspective with examples from Ottoman foundation traditions. At the end of the event, Mustafa Fazıl Karaman was presented with a digital certificate of appreciation. The program concluded with contributions and questions from the participants.
